Open Letter to Reduce Accelerated Global Warming Caused by Shipping Fuel Regulations

By R. Baiman, R. Bishop, C. Elsworth, B. Melton, O. Peterson, and Y. Tao

It is now past due time to urgently deploy "Direct Climate Cooling" methods to reduce harm from from near-term (next decades to a century or more) global warming (see here and here).

Unfortunately, recent implementation of more strict international sulfur regulations on shipping fuel have had the opposite (reverse "termination shock") effect of increasing global warming.  This open letter and technical addendum asks the International Maritime Organization to urgently address this. Please consider contacting the corresponding author to sign it!
